On the debut EP of San Juan masters of combination, called “Moths”, there’s an enticing track “Adhara & Ray.” “Adhara & Ray” is a stone carving in three stages.

From progressive heavy rock with different shards inside, through hallucinogenic opacity at 2:20-ish, to an extreme leap that is some kind of thrash metal. Pleasing and distinctive feature here is the sound of the track itself, bare and a bit wet, without unnecessary scattered things. It gives the song the most epic analog latitude. The bass guitar runs like a tense vein of young Geezer Butler, the sonorous beats of the snare drum firmly seal this ground. The vocals belong to the dexterous oracle. The guitar sounds like Angus Young was forced to play in Rush, and in the last part of the song, it hooks everything together with sudden death metal bolts. All the components of “Adhara & Ray” are skillfully shaped, when necessary - it’s innovative, sometimes it’s radical, and it’ll enthrall you completely.
