Texan singer-songwriter John Calvin unveiled a mellow single from his new album “Greener Fields & Fairer Seas,” which will be out at the end of January.
“High Is My Favorite Height” is inlaid with tranquilizing, milky way slowcore-ish folk with lullaby drum brushes and cozy guitar chords. Calvin's subdued, breathy falsetto has a gentle retro soul ballad-like honeyedness. The simple, warmed melodies, served with bashful intimacy, convey how wide a susceptibility range can be.
