Primal Wound is the project of Charlemagne Charmaine, who describes her sound as Enyacore, newage pop, zigguratcore or mystic rock, and is based in Oakland, CA. Today the project releases the LP “Flesh Bound World,” which we, for our part, define as the intoxicating image of Gnostic dream pop. We also present the album’s final track, revealing the whole flavor of the sound.

“Aurora” is nothing less than a real long-distance trip through the light of dawn to indescribable star clusters, a soundtrack to comprehending higher esoteric revelations. The track grows smoothly, unfolding Charlemagne’s enchanting and experienced voice, that speaks to us as a child-prophet, and then as the oldest deity. But eventually, it gives us inexplicable calm and complete relaxation. The sound waves of guitars and synths are slowly being absorbed by us, becoming a venous stream and awakening a strange but pleasant energy. And we understand that this is not just a sound anymore, it is light. By the middle of the fourth minute, we ourselves completely become the source of this light, for which the time and the mantle of the innermost no longer exist. At this moment, “Aurora” reaches its peak and slowly falls down with the drums-adepts part that remains only as echoes of this small well of mystical experience. The full album can be purchased here.

And give me oblivion of earthly meanings
Someday we will meet in a world where love never dies”
