Chicago four-piece Yr Knives announced the release of their debut album Begin Yr Singing on October 30th, listen to its haunting first single. Fear&Trimbling offers dark, dissonant jazz-prog with a deeply unnerving touch of the visionaries of 20th-century avant modern classical music, which sounds as if Glenn Branca joined The Mahavishnu Orchestra. The writhing guitars, combined with the nonlinear rhythmic patterns, create an atmosphere of panicked crawling through an ominous abandoned factory. Evoking disturbing imagery, the music weighs on the mind, while also having a cleansing effect, foreshadowing the arrival of cathartic strings at the end.
