Washington, D.C.-based pianist/composer Geoffrey Dean and his quartet presented their latest album “Conceptions” that features this contemplative piece. “Amidst A Dream” offers sealed nocturnal jazz with a calming, reflection-relieving noir atmosphere. The lingering of the hard bop trumpet notes is pure hypnosis, the piano shines like a heaven crystal, and there’s even room for grounding bass solos.
