The band's singer Dave Kajganich wrote this song for the cannibal romance road trip flick “
Bones And All” (it stayed in a deleted
scene), where he also was a screenwriter. The sound of “Founders' Blues” is Americana with a bluegrass ballad tone and a spirit of deep Southern Gothic. The suspicious vibe, created by the banjo fingerpicking and wandering bow, permeates with an overhanging feeling of mysterious inevitability. Kajganich’s plangent voice fits ideally into this minimalistic, spooky landscape.
