Lizzy Laurance - Famous

Grotesqualizer

The UK singer and sound collage magician reveals the first single from the upcoming LP “Rocketman.”

Lizzy Laurance has created this extraordinary sonic mantle by practicing field recordings, radio broadcast recordings, and plunderphonics techniques. But mainly, “Famous” is powered by Laurance's empyreal voice that sounds equally expressive and distant. The lyrics, in turn, were influenced by an experience when she was stalked by a disturbing, obsessive man in Copenhagen. This is what a collaboration between Hope Sandoval and The Caretaker might sound like, if made as the soundtrack for Luca Guadagnino’s surreal remake of a film noir. The sound of “Famous” lingers, as if floating somewhere at the intersection of realities.
