Shrine Maiden - Noho Ana Ke Akua

Shrine Maiden - Noho Ana Ke Akua

“Noho Ana Ke Akua” is sinister ritualistic drone metal from the debut work “...and I arise” of Los Angeles duo Shrine Maiden.

Tribute to the Trve Gods of our indigenous brothers and sisters and the lands those gods have let us borrow (or watch us trespass upon), the band members explain their canvas of frightening sonic art. Using Hawaiian chant, Shrine Maiden broadcasts a very disturbing sound experience that not everyone will cope with, especially not those who cherish their sensitive mind. Rachel Makana'aloha Nakawatase and Ryan Betschart’s singing and guitar howls are like a burning, oppressive, paranoid and dizzying ceremonial, almost incomparable in strength of involvement and effect, only Corona Barathri comes to mind. “Noho Ana Ke Akua” is the music of a dark energy from beyond.
