Finnish band Rantama set the mood with their latest mesmerizing single, “Ground Frost Forger.”
Inspired by the beauty of winter, the collective redirects delightful melodies into a snowy, measured trip. In the first part of the track, the breathing, calm guitar work and the guiding rhythm section marks take us to wide, picturesque spaces, reflecting over the frozen city square and mountain peaks. That’s how Falls Of Rauros could have sounded if they had switched entirely to post-rock. Reaching the middle of the track, the first part pours into baked progressive rock, which perfectly maintains heat. The indolent and carried away line shifts to soft, bluesy deceleration. “Ground Frost Forger” is like the main theme for the innermost winter dreams that come in a long and serene hibernation.
