Twin Oaks - Montauk

“Montauk” is a fantastic first single from the upcoming album “See You When I See You” of Twin Oaks. The minimalistic beginning creates the illusion of a soothing dream pop medicine, hiding all the secrets and charms of this song for some time.

But even at the beginning, as listening to the lyrics, you can catch the emotional impulses in this seemingly restrained music incarnation. The poetic structure is unusual, it’s a pure story full of unique moments that lure you into following it. At 1:44, “Montauk” flourishes with gradually growing drums, soft synths and beautiful guitar melodies coming in. And at 2:43, along with the viscous echoes of backing vocals, something dark and beautiful, reflected in the stained glass windows of a Gothic church, flows into the transparent sadness of dream pop. But the dark side doesn’t go to extremes, as Twin Oaks gave the song a very elegant and subtle form, gently releasing your hand towards the end.
