The swing of the medieval barbaric axe wasn’t quick due to its weight, but if it hit the target, it killed 100% of the time.

The same thing happens with German smoking doom blend Gallons Of Mud in their new track “Howl” - slow and spot on. It opens up with a suppressing riff-slab followed by the almost 10-minute epic visionary crusade through smoke of times, seasoned with the deepening into the earth's crust drums, hallucinogenic wah-wah vibrations, spidery heavy vocals and the guitar solo gliding in a transgressive flash. It’s like the members of Belzebong joined Candlemass. In the meantime, Gallons Of Mud is finishing their album that will probably be one of the most impressive doom metal recordings of this decade. (2011 was marked by the band’s release called “Demo 2011” consisted of 3 tracks, which one dare not call demo. This is a lump of low red-eyed sound, cutting through the sky.)
