Paul Sottnik - Supermarkets V

In the track “Supermarkets V,” Paul Sottnik takes on the role of a conductor in the barely lit and passable alleys of our personalities, turning ordinary sound vibrations into oscillations of subconsciousness.

With the help of a simple and repetitive, but thrilling and dissolving under the skin piano line he makes us wonder what we really know about ourselves. The sound of the bass guitar gently pulsates like it speaks to us in the foggy language of the light gleams in the sea, which we seemingly once knew. By the middle of the track, “Supermarkets V” becomes an amazingly layered audiolization filled with subtle sound surprises. The coda suddenly wraps you up, supplementing already existing guesses and images. “Supermarkets V” could easily become the main theme of a remake of “Naked Lunch,” for one, if it was shot by Tsai Ming-liang.
