The Lunchtime Band from Vancouver has just released their self-titled album consisted of truly astonishing, airy songs.
The song “Let’s Get Groovy” is a medicine for headache. But there’s a side effect to it - a melancholic feeling of something irretrievable from the past. It stings you, followed by the sweet aftertaste. Then it warms you up and makes you sleep and see dreams that finally clear your mind and turn everyday life into dust. Music moves, subtle and smooth, as if graceful blessed deities slide on the heavenly ice skating rink. The singer’s timbre, with its bright flashes, transforms heartfelt lyrics into an anime story similar to 5 Centimeters per Second. Altogether, it sounds like King Krule and Nirvana re-enact "Unplugged" of the latter, relishing sunlight and the splashing ocean waves. Excellent discovery.
