Icelandic artist Ari Arelius has released a driving world fusion piece from the upcoming album “Hiatus Terrae.”
“Sol” is a dynamic instrumental sprout that draws influences from Afrobeat, Ethio-jazz and some other regional music directions. The song charms you from the moment it opens with an enlivening psyсh fuzz on top of an agile drum rhythm and a funky bass line. Then the melody becomes saturated with desert Tishoumaren passages in some places, and with dynamic island samba in other places, at times you can catch glimpses of Zamrock, and then, at another moment, a playful brass band-ish parts show up. But in the end, Ari Arelius inventively combines different elements, creating a lush music expression.
