The Bay Area duo presents their third single this year.
Chelsey And The Noise continue to expand their sound in different directions. But at the same time “Are You Afraid?” is, first and foremost, a precisely constructed and accessible structure. Chelsey Hice twirls a combination of catchy and lively, recognizable passages that fit in well with the lyrics about maddening fears and reflections on the paranoid hunters and victims. Brent Watters, on the other hand, gathered every crumb of this mood and added it to splitting up hi-hats, a bunch of different echoing sounds, a massive head-banging chorus, a bridge that blows the roof with a kick drum action, and to elaborate melodies. “Are You Afraid?” sounds like a rebellion against your own objectionable being.
