Putney Swope - Blonde

Read full review & listen on Grotesqualizer.

Los Angeles experimental music diver Putney Swope released the curious EP “Red Herring.”

“Blonde,” the opening track of this work, is intense folktronica. At first, hysteria and reverie seem to strangely mix here. Putney Swope controls the minted rimshot rhythm and manipulates the sampled passages of an acoustic guitar and banjo throughout. Mostly, he directs all the floodlights to the magical, polyphonic play of the amazing intertwining string harmonies, as if coming from some mysterious clockwork. As a result, by the middle of the track you realize that Putney Swope quite talentedly showed the very sacrament of vibrations.
