Mild Card - A259

Grotesqualizer

Hear an amusing bop, taken from the new album “Circuit Breaker” by Mild Card, the project of UK artist Daniel Markland (Lonesome Heights).

“A259” is an addictive, pulsing sound in the vein of the ‘90s-‘00s indie electronic scene, some of which was in turn inspired by krautrock and new wave. The lo-fi-ish analog texture and repetitive delivery of the instrumental evoke a groovy reaction. The insistent beat is surrounded by the factory siren-like synths, melodic machine-tool hammers and futuristic tech fx. After the twisting solo at 1:41, you can feel more rock expression. And Markland's post-punk declamation vocals, recounting a strange travel through the south coast of England, are gradually absorbing.
