Stagnant, an extreme metal quartet from Illinois, demonstrates one of their first awesome massive blasts.
This sludgey doom death metal is produced with a very cave-y and creeping effect. The muddy guitar riff flow extends through the hole of consciousness punched by the spiteful ice ax-snare drum. “Active Decay” has the same somber insatiability flavor as OSDM, but the band also made a big bet on crushing, slowed down pressure. Alex Burke’s growling sounds powerful and deeply ominous, having extra solid underpinnings in some moments.
