Dean Hamilton - Limina

Grotesqualizer

Baltimore, MD instrumental painter Dean Hamilton has released his multifaceted second LP and presents one of its great parts.

The eight-minute track “Limina” is a picturesque and unbounded post-rock mystery, and it feels like it’s brought from the land of transcendental dreams. At first, “Limina” sounds foreign, unfamiliar and disquieting, as if taking the listener down on a rope into the very depths of the unknown and untouched corners of the psyche. In the fifth minute, the music is like a bright, illuminating palette of the polar lights in the dark, and it sounds more at the junction of post-metal and atmo-black metal. Hamilton evenly infuses this music with cold beauty, connecting shards of strange old memory that have been scattered throughout our bodies and minds over the centuries.
