The quartet Cuffed Up presents their debut double a-side, this is “Small Town Kid,” a dynamic narrative of aspirations burning out.
The simple and overlapping guitar action sounds like prudent skate rock put on the tracks of gusty post-punk. Preparing to jump, Ralph Torrefranca's voice is reinforced by Sapphire Jewell's pointy vocals, and the tenacious, tweaking chorus turns the song into a gaining on, powerful beam. “Small Town Kid” is like a cloudy blue sky, and thunder and rain, that will come somewhere in the second chorus, will drench all the maliciously encouraging traumatic life formulas.
