Swedish band The Scrags released their debut album in 2008. At a time when new rave sets were interspersed with gritty garage rock, their The Stooges/Oasis-ish thriller “Death Of A Rock N Roll Band” was a perfect discovery. Now The Scrags present a new discovery.

The single “Sick Of Divine” sounds like Lou Reed and James Murphy recorded a soundtrack for a failed to pass censorship and unreleased Need for Speed game. Sharp alarming light, increasing tension, the inciting voice and a brake failure. For almost two and a half minutes, The Scrags skillfully curb and control crazy drive, at times letting you peek at its outline. But at the right time they unchain their hungry dogs. “Sick Of Divine” is an excellent proof of how one can make a rousing audio stimulation with the simplest materials and reliable techniques.
