Hell Nancy - Burden

Portland, OR, trio Hell Nancy released a very pervasive EP called “IZ.” Try to get through the worries of the song “Burden.”

Resembling sand in an hourglass, this penetrating fuzz-ballad about self-reproach and serious painful affection consists of the moving vocal elegy and minimalistic accompaniment of the guitar-blade, bass pulse and modestly expressive drums. At times this accompaniment seems to stumble and cut through the iridescent, melancholic waves of the chords. And the “broken” garage sound of the guitar is like a symbolic reflection of the artist’s personality, calling for all your trust, when the touching lyrics are a revelation with a sharp end.
