Brazilian artist Joao Castellani shared the longing and dense second single that will be featured in his new album “CSTLLN.”
“1206” is an ‘80s/‘90s-infused, quirky alt-rock route, also incorporating a combo of grunge and post-punk. The darkened, intertwining Sonic Youth-esque guitars expand from concise dissonance moments to nocturnal, near jangle pop landscapes. The punchy drum groove immediately gives “1206” weight and a feeling of being on the edge of something, reaching a headbanging despair at 02:54. Castellani’s muted, tranquilized falsetto is disorienting and catchy at the same time.
