Izzy Raye - Favorite Girl

Grotesqualizer

Izzy Raye, a New Jersey singer-songwriter/actress, highlights the intricate opening track of her recent debut release with an amazing, psychedelically colorful music video shot on 16mm film.

At first, the tune is filled with iridescent and silky synthesizers, soft bass vibration and dashing electronic percussion. Raye’s singing notes are hypnotic and balmy, referring to today’s r&b dimension. But at the beginning of the second minute, a low-pitched, slightly stumbling and groovy boom bap loop appears, pushing the boundaries of the song even further. Behind this short, but peculiar delivery of “Favorite Girl” lie the artist’s reflections on mainstream needs and art. “I guess there’s no harm in doing what I need to do to get noticed, but the beauty of music is you can let your crazier side run wild a little bit,” adds Izzy Raye.
