Southern California two-peace The Lylacs present their thrilling new track.
“Fragments Of Lost Days” feels like a jam from space, a thousand light-years away, that turns into a deeply melancholic art rock play. It opens with a firm, rebounding beat and keys beaconing into the hidden emptiness, and then attracts various, unexpected post-punk oscillations. The guitars show in an interesting way how fragile dynamics can be. The lingering, touchingly theatrical notes of singer Francis Blume have a deep yearning to them, also due to the “abandoned broadcasting” effect. The musicians refer to the composition as
“a vivid picture of loneliness and despair,” “written while in the grip of chronic illness.”
