Luke Beling, a Kailua Kona, Hawaii-based songsmith, unveils the atmospheric lead single from his approaching debut album.
The voyage of indie folk and post-rock in “A Stone In The Mouth Of The Ocean” is pretty catching and spacious. The vulnerable piano strokes lay over the near-ambient, tender canvas of synths/guitars, giving the feeling of a long memory tunnel. At the same time, Beling’s soft timbre unfolds in a folk paradigm, which results in a beautiful catharsis. Also, quite surprising and unique in this light was the harmonica at 2:40. Explaining the meaning of the song, he says that it
“deals with coming to terms with our human frailty in this big universe we call home.”
