Danish artist Noa Lachmi, who is also the guitarist/vocalist of the sister rock trio
Velvet Volume, has released her intriguing second number.
Continuing the approach of the debut single, Noa Lachmi embodies a more tense and focused act here. The ghoul-haunted piano chords and drum somnambula are the bewitching base of “Unnatural Land.” Over this gothic chamber pop aesthetic, Lachmi’s suspense vocal play unfolds in the imaginative, eerie poetry.
“You know it will eat your face, and you know it will blind your eyes, and you know it will eat your teeth, just like it did to me.” The song also has subtle shadows of jazz and post-rock. The creeping saxophone, stalking strings, unnerving percussion perfectly transmit the taste of depressurized pseudo-idyll.
