Philippines multi-instrumentalist Miguel Abella opens his new EP “Prologue” with this pleasant, unhurried composition.
This imperceptibly minimalist bedroom pop educes a nocturnal, no-tension mood where the sound feels more like a magnetizing fluorescent flicker. The smooth, light effect-drenched guitar shimmers against the background of a steady rhythm, and “To Be Seen” reminds of absorbing wandering inside a huge oceanarium. The track is complemented by occasional shoegazation, Fishmans and DeMarco’s reflections, and a delightful solo at 2:28. On top of that, Abella's velvety, calm vocal manner really makes the song float.
