Stroud, UK performer and songwriter Maja Lena transmits winter allure through this song from her recently released LP “Pluto.”
Soothing, spellbinding folk, a la pocket watch hypnosis, wiggles tenderly in “Silent Quilt.” Starting with a measured, looped base of drums, bass and acoustic guitar, this sound corridor, evocative of Trad, Gras och Stenar commune is then complemented by dreamlike synth lighting. Brilliant work has been done on the voice part, Maja Lena’s thin and sinuous, traditional and artistic main singing was seasoned with the abundant, melodic backing vocals. And the lyricism of “Silent Quilt,” woven from pieces of life’s journey with a share of magical realism, is nicely uplifting.
