Copenhagen four-piece Pardans present a nimble new blend from their 2023 forthcoming album.
“Cringe City” is a fascinating jam punk band-ish view of art rock that seems to be infused with the ‘70s glammy gaiety of Bowie and inspired by the ardent music manipulations of avant-jazz-rock influencers like Don Van Vliet or Contortions, for example. The teasing guitar riffs lay on the passionate, winding rhythm section, blissful and sunny tenor sax shimmering, and ringing keyboard drops on the background. Gustav Berntsen’s driving vocal flow transmits the theme of
“dealing with personal demons” and
“finding new meaning,” as the band says. During these three minutes, Pardans adhere to an unordinary sound strategy.
