Seattle-based singer-songwriter Evelyn Frances has created an engrossing new composition.
“I Wonder What The Neighbors Think Of Us” is a lingering post-folk melancholia. The instrumental evolves from simple guitar sketches to impressionistic synths/strings cruises, getting a certain dreary orchestral expansion. Frances’s brooding vocal unties the reflection knots, and the routine described in the lyrics becomes partly cinematically contemplative, and on the other hand, conveys the sadness of isolation. This touching performance sounds like Bjork meets The Microphones and gives the feeling of a mournful and soaring dance in the sunset shades.
