Washington, D.C. formation Lightmare present their peppy latest single.
“Sad Boi” is an amazing, electrifying jazz-funk piece with a touch of psych soul. The theme of the track is age-old egotism and the deceitfulness of dating culture. From the very first seconds, Shady Rose’s vocal passages pull you out of the routine, they’re lively, wavy, and adhesive. With the instrumentals, Lightmare show an incredibly epic groove, they are unbreakable, yet playfully loose, while endlessly sharing their compelling spirit. The warming keys and wah guitar, smoothly sliding tight bass and drums, perky wind instruments - it all sounds enthusiastic and unrestrained, giving the ‘70s vibe in the vein of Sly And The Family Stone and Tower Of Power. Don't miss their second album, “Dirt,” due out on October 29.
