Los Angeles 6-piece Dark Dazey have released a brilliant new work.
“‘Blue’ is about staying centered in life and love,” the musicians say about the lyrics of the song breathing with introspection. The melodies of “Blue” remind of European near-psych folk rock of the ‘70s, and also there’s something from American classic soul music, and this balance is very productive and tempting. The arrangement sounds magical, and the flute plays an excellent role that adds more liveliness, sensitivity, and emphasizes the beauty of natural sound. The vocals are contrasting here, in the verses guitarist Cole Heramb’s voice sounds more elastic and anticipatory, and in the chorus vocalist Mariah Hill fully reveals all the soulfulness and warm vintage nostalgia of the composition. The band is preparing an upcoming album called “Howdy Blue,” out this year.
