Arnan Raz - 7 Days

Grotesqualizer

Israel-American composer and saxophonist Arnan Raz, with the support of an excellent group of improvisers, presents a composition from his new album.

The track “7 Days” is a captivating jazz architecture. A great combination of Afro-Cuban rhythms, intricate jazz fusion, and a block of references to classic hard bop - this is what can be called a kaleidoscopic performance. The jumping patterns of the rhythm section can provide a framework at one moment, and then split it in an engrossing way. Most of the track is dominated by a lingering trumpet that maintains a stringy and chill atmosphere, then saxophones, kicking in at the fourth minute, throw in more avant-garde and restless twists. “7 Days” is like an unusual mechanism that can be looked at for hours.
