The Washington DC based drum/guitar duo presents a great piece from their recent debut album “O.”
At first, the track “Knife Play” delivers speedy and crushing noise math rock. Then the bluesy garage rock verses suddenly get added to the mix. The musicians switch between genres without respite, unfolding cold-blooded originality with a confident energy. By the end of the second minute, when the saxophone layer appears, a shift towards avant-garde takes place. But most importantly, “Knife Play” is fueled by a raw and expressive punk power that moves it forward so passionately.
