The Michigan quartet, led by bass player Rob Crozier, has released an excellent live album.
More than nine minutes of the opening track “H.O.M.E.S.” bring a powerful extravaganza with cruising jazz-funk and inflorescences of jazz fusion with prog leaning. The sound sometimes echoes Weather Report and Pharoah Sanders. The silk saxophone passages flow from smooth vibrations to avant-garde frenzy, and the steady rhythm section gives way to dexterous, graceful and energetic leaps. As a result, the sound stream amazes with the beauty of its integrity.
