“Floating Apparition” is the topnotch b-side of the single “Animal Attack,” released on April 11, by Texas multi-instrumental master Grand Commander. As always, all the good things are brief, but this track is worth it, you can just put it on repeat.
“Floating Apparition” is a cosmic, sweet funk-cotton-candy in the best, renewed traditions. The exhilarant bass a la Victor Wooten, Funkadelic-esque guitar agility and Frusciante-like string polyphony turn into one wave of a warm funk symphony. The arrangement brilliantly fits into just a minute and a half and sounds like a perfect canon. “Floating Apparition” is a true little masterpiece and a hidden gem of playlists.
